The DIN EN 14889-2 standard provides definitions, specifications, and conformity requirements for polymer fibers used in concrete, mortar, and grout. It is applicable to all types of concrete and mortar, including sprayed concrete, flooring, precast, in-situ, and repair concretes.
The standard does not govern the application of polymer fibers in the production of fiber-reinforced concrete or mortar elements, such as requirements for fiber content, structural design, mixing, placing, etc. These aspects are not covered by this standard. However, the standard does acknowledge the use of fibers for structural purposes, where the addition of fibers is intended to contribute to the load-bearing capacity of a concrete or mortar element.
