The DIN EN 1351 standard outlines the procedure for determining the flexural strength of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC). The flexural strength is the ability of AAC to resist bending and is an important parameter for assessing its performance and suitability for specific applications. The standard provides guidelines for conducting the test using prismatic specimens taken from prefabricated components.
The test involves applying a uniform bending moment to the middle third of the span of the prismatic specimen through two-point loading. This ensures that the load is evenly distributed and allows for accurate measurement of the flexural strength. Alternatively, the method of center-point loading can also be used as specified in annex A of the standard.
