Hot Applied Joint Sealants - Part 3: Test Method for the Determination of Penetration and Recovery (Resilience)

SKU181659143 Published by Deutsches Institut für Normung DIN Publication Date2003-09 Pages CountPages9

The DIN EN 13880-3 standard provides a methodology for assessing the penetration and recovery properties of hot applied joint sealants. The standard specifies the use of a standard penetrometer equipped with a ball penetration tool to measure these characteristics.

This test method helps in evaluating the ability of the joint sealant to penetrate and flow into the gaps and cracks of the joint. The penetration measurement is conducted by recording the depth to which the ball penetrates into the sealant material. Additionally, the recovery (resilience) of the sealant is determined by measuring its ability to return to its original state after being subjected to deformation.
