The DIN EN ISO 10077-1 standard provides methods for calculating the thermal transmittance of windows and pedestrian doors. It covers various factors such as different types of glazing (glass or plastic, single or multiple glazing, with or without low emissivity coatings), opaque panels within the window or door, different types of frames (wood, plastic, metallic with thermal barrier or pinpoint metallic connections), and the additional thermal resistance introduced by closed shutters or external blinds.
The standard does not consider thermal bridge effects at the rebate or joint between the window or door frame and the building envelope. It also does not account for solar radiation, air leakage, condensation, ventilation of air spaces in double and coupled windows, or the surrounding parts of an oriel window.
Default values for glazing, frames, and shutters are provided in the annexes of the standard. It is important to note that the standard is not applicable to curtain walls and other structural glazing, as well as industrial, commercial, and garage doors.
