IEC 60364-7-714:2011 is a standard that specifies the requirements for external lighting installations in low-voltage electrical installations. This standard applies to the selection and installation of luminaires and lighting installations that are part of an outdoor fixed installation. The scope of this standard includes lighting installations for various outdoor areas such as roads, parks, gardens, public places, sports areas, monuments, and advertisements.

However, it should be noted that the standard does not cover public street lighting installations that are part of the public power grid, temporary festoon lighting, road traffic signal systems, or luminaires that are fixed to the outside of a building and directly supplied from the internal wiring.

The second edition of this standard, published in 2011, replaces the previous edition from 1996 and includes technical revisions. Some of the major changes in this edition include the alignment of clause numbering with the present structure of IEC 60364, the requirement for additional protection in certain cases of equipment incorporating lighting, more stringent requirements for the IP degree of protection, and the introduction of specific requirements for isolation.
