ISO 18408:2019 is a standard that applies to reinforced concrete buildings with load bearing walls, specifically those referred to as reinforced concrete box-shaped wall buildings (RC wall buildings). This standard also applies to RC wall buildings that incorporate other types of structures.
The scope of ISO 18408:2019 is limited to RC wall buildings with certain characteristics. These include buildings with a maximum of five aboveground storeys, an eaves height of 16 meters or less, and a storey height on each storey of 3 meters or less. The maximum storey height on the top storey is 3.3 meters. If the roof has a slope, the sum of the storey height of the top storey and the height from the eaves to the ridge should not exceed 4 meters.
It is important to note that this standard does not cover deep foundations such as piles, caissons, and their associated footings and caps. These elements are outside the scope of ISO 18408:2019.
