Standard EN SampleSimplified Design for Mechanical Connections between Precast Concrete Structural Elements in Buildings
Also Known As:
ISO 20987:2019 standard focuses on connections in precast frame systems for both single-storey and multi-storey buildings. The standard considers connections for all orders of joints, except for large wall panel and three-dimensional cell systems.
The seven orders of joints that are covered in the standard include mutual joints between floor or roof elements (floor-to-floor), joints between floor or roof elements and supporting beams (floor-to-beam), joints between beam and column (beam-to-column), joints between column segments (column-to-column), joints between column and foundation (column-to-foundation), fastenings of cladding panels to the structure (panel-to-structure), and joints between adjacent cladding panels (panel-to-panel).
The standard does not consider simple bearings working by gravity load friction or sliding and elastic deformable supporting devices, as these types of connections are not suitable for the transmission of seismic actions. Instead, the standard provides formulae for the strength design of a wide range of joint typologies.
