Characterization of pavement texture by use of surface profiles - Part 2: Terminology and basic requirements related to pavement texture profile analysis
Also Known As:
ISO 13473-2:2002 is a standard that focuses on the characterization of pavement texture through the analysis of surface profiles. It establishes a set of terms, expressions, and parameters that are relevant to the analysis of pavement texture on roads, airport runways, and taxiways. The standard aims to provide a consistent framework for the modeling of pavement characteristics such as tire/road noise emission, tire/road friction, tire rolling resistance, and tire wear.
In addition to defining terms and expressions, ISO 13473-2:2002 also presents general information on pavement surface characteristics and their effects. The standard also includes basic requirements for the use of the defined terms, expressions, and parameters.
It is important to note that ISO 13473-2:2002 does not cover the profile analysis of machined surfaces, as this topic is addressed in other International Standards such as ISO 3274, ISO 4287, ISO 4288, ISO 5436-1, and ISO 12085. Likewise, the standard excludes the analysis of road unevenness, which is addressed in ISO 8608.
