Railway Infrastructure - Rail Fastening Systems - Part 2: Test Method for Longitudinal Rail Restraint
Also Known As:
ISO 22074-2:2021 standard outlines a laboratory test procedure that is aimed at determining the maximum longitudinal force that can be exerted on a rail securely fastened to a sleeper, bearer, or element of ballastless track. This is done without causing any non-elastic displacement of the rail or determining the longitudinal stiffness of the embedded rail with an adhesive fastening system at a specified longitudinal displacement. The test procedure is applicable to all types of rail fastening systems.
Additionally, this standard specifies the measurement of shear displacement and slip data that is necessary for track-bridge interaction calculations. By obtaining this data, it becomes possible to assess the interaction between the rail and the bridge and make calculations to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the railway infrastructure.
