ISO 22282-3:2012 provides guidelines for conducting water pressure tests (WPT) in rock formations as part of geotechnical investigation and testing activities. These tests are carried out in boreholes drilled into the rock and are in line with the requirements specified in EN 1997-1 and EN 1997-2 standards.
The main purpose of these tests is to assess the hydraulic properties of the rock mass, primarily influenced by its discontinuities. The tests also aim to determine the absorption capacity and tightness of the rock mass, as well as evaluate the effectiveness of grouting techniques. Additionally, the WPT can provide insights into the geomechanical behavior of the rock, such as hydrofracturing and hydrojacking.
