Timber Structures - Bending Applications of I-Beams - Part 2: Component Performance and Manufacturing Requirements
Also Known As:
ISO 22389-2:2020 standard provides specifications and requirements for prefabricated wood-based I-beams used as structural members in bending applications. The standard focuses on component performance and manufacturing, excluding aspects such as fire performance, formaldehyde requirements, and biological durability.
The standard covers the manufacturing process, in-house quality assurance, and periodic re-evaluation of prefabricated wood-based I-beams. These I-beams are intended for use in covered conditions and with components that can withstand the effects of moisture on structural performance, such as construction delays. However, they are not suitable for permanent exposure to the weather. The service conditions are similar to "Service class 2" as defined in ISO 20152-1.
It is important to note that ISO 22389-2:2020 does not address all safety concerns associated with its use. Users of this standard are responsible for establishing appropriate health and safety practices and determining the applicability of regulatory limitations before implementation. Prefabricated wood-based I-beams' testing, evaluation, and performance characterization requirements are covered in ISO 22389-1, a related document.
