Standard EN SampleSteel Structures - Part 2: Fabrication and Erection
Also Known As:
ISO 10721-2:1999 provides the requirements for the fabrication, erection, and inspection of structural steelwork in buildings. This standard is specifically applicable to buildings that are designed in accordance with ISO 10721-1, which covers the general principles for the design of steel structures.
Although the main focus is on buildings, ISO 10721-2 can also be used for bridges, off-shore structures, and other civil engineering and related structures. However, it is important to note that additional requirements may need to be considered for these types of structures.
This standard also acknowledges that there are special considerations for welded connections and structures subject to fatigue. Therefore, special provisions for these aspects can be found in section 8.9 and 10.1, respectively, of ISO 10721-1.
