Standard EN SampleDecorated Cement Shingles for Dwelling Roofs
Also Known As:
The JIS A 5423:2013 standard specifies the requirements for the installation of decorated boards, commonly known as shingles, on the foundation of sheathing roof boards. These shingles are manufactured using materials such as cement, silicate material, and fiber material (excluding asbestos) through press-forming techniques. The standard focuses on shingles that are primarily used for dwelling roofs.
It is important to note that this standard refers to other international standards that correspond to its specifications. Specifically, ISO 9125:2009 covers fiber-cement slates and fittings, providing product specification and test methods. ISO 10904:2011 addresses fiber-cement corrugated sheets and fittings for roofing and cladding, although modifications are present in its overall evaluation.
The standard also provides clarification on some terms used. For instance, the term "sheathing roof board" refers to a structural plywood with a thickness of at least 9mm, as specified in the Japanese Agricultural Standard or any other structural plywood with an equivalent yield strength. These sheathing roof boards are used to fix the shingles in place using nails, screws, or similar fasteners.
Additionally, the term "decorated boards" refers to shingles that incorporate coloring materials. These shingles have a decorative layer applied to the base board through techniques such as coloring, printing, coating, spraying, enameling, or embossing.
