The AASHTO TP 133-21 standard specifies the method of testing for determining the damage characteristic curve and failure criterion using small specimens in the Asphalt Mixture Performance Tester (AMPT) cyclic fatigue test. This test method applies to both laboratory-compacted and field-cored asphalt mixture specimens.
The purpose of this standard is to determine the damage characteristic curve and fatigue analysis parameters through the direct tension cyclic fatigue test using the AMPT. This test method is specifically designed for dense-graded mixtures with a nominal maximum aggregate size of 19.0 mm (0.75 in.) or smaller. Mixtures with a larger nominal maximum aggregate size should be tested using a different standard, TP 107.
