Standard EN SampleStandard Method of Test for Determining the Damage Characteristic Curve of Asphalt Mixtures from Direct Tension Cyclic Fatigue Tests
Also Known As:
AASHTO TP 107-18 is a standard method of testing for determining the damage characteristic curve of asphalt mixtures through direct tension cyclic fatigue tests. The test method covers the procedures for preparing and testing asphalt concrete mixtures in the laboratory. It is specifically designed for specimens with a nominal maximum size aggregate of 37.5 mm (1.48 in.) or smaller.
The purpose of this standard is to determine the damage characteristic curve, which is a graph showing the relationship between the number of load cycles and the corresponding strain level at failure. This curve provides important information about the fatigue resistance and durability of the asphalt mixture.
The testing process involves subjecting the specimens to cyclic loading in tension until failure occurs. The number of load cycles, as well as the strain level at failure, are recorded. These data are then used to construct the damage characteristic curve.
