Standard EN SampleStandard Practice for Assessment of Navigation Drift Mitigation in Transverse Pavement Profiling Systems
Also Known As:
The AASHTO PP 108-21 standard addresses the issue of drift in the estimate of global position in transverse pavement profiling (TPP) systems. TPP systems are used to provide global positions of road surfaces, but they can be susceptible to drift over time.
The purpose of this standard practice is to outline the procedure for assessing the amount of drift present in localization systems used in TPPs. The minimum requirements specified in the standard are aimed at ensuring accurate and repeatable transverse measurements for network and project level data collection.
It is important to note that if any part of this practice contradicts referenced documents, such as ASTM Standards, this standard practice takes precedence for its intended purposes. Additionally, this standard practice should be conducted in conjunction with three other standard practices (PP 106, PP 107, and PP 109) to fully assess and certify the TPP in typical operating conditions. PP 106 focuses on static assessment, PP 107 addresses body motion assessment, and PP 109 covers ground reference and transverse width assessment.
