It also includes steel forgings and iron castings that have been incorporated into fabricated pieces before galvanizing, or are too large to be centrifuged or otherwise handled to remove excess galvanizing bath metal.

It is important to note that this specification does not apply to wire, pipe, tube, or steel sheet that is galvanized on specialized or continuous lines, or to steel that is less than 0.76 mm thick.

Additionally, the galvanizing process for certain hardware items, such as bolts, threaded fasteners, castings, and rolled, pressed, and forged items that are to be centrifuged or handled to remove excess zinc, should follow the guidelines outlined in AASHTO M 232M/M 232.
