The AASHTO M 275M/M 275-20 standard specifies the requirements for uncoated high-strength steel bars used in prestressed concrete construction. These bars are designed to withstand high levels of tension and are commonly used in pretensioning and post-tensioning applications as well as for prestressed ground anchors. The standard sets a minimum ultimate tensile strength level of 1035 MPa (150,000 psi) for these bars.
The standard also distinguishes between two types of bars: Type I and Type II. Type I bars feature a plain, smooth surface, while Type II bars have surface deformations. The choice between these two types may vary depending on the specific requirements of the project.
