Standard ENStandard Method of Test for Total Evaporable Moisture Content of Aggregate by Drying
Also Known As:
AASHTO T 255-00, also known as the Standard Method of Test for Total Evaporable Moisture Content of Aggregate by Drying, provides a procedure for determining the percentage of evaporable moisture in an aggregate sample. The test is conducted by drying both the surface moisture and the moisture trapped in the pores of the aggregate. It is important to note that this method does not account for water that is chemically combined with the minerals in the aggregate, as this water is not considered evaporable and is therefore not included in the percentage determined by this test.
AASHTO T 255-00 is technically equivalent to ASTM C566-97(2004), with the exception of the balance statement in Section 5.1. This means that the two standards provide essentially the same testing procedure and results, making them interchangeable in practice.
