Seismic Strengthening of Concrete Buildings Using FRP Composites
Also Known As:
ACI SP-258:2008 is a standard that provides information and guidelines for the seismic strengthening of concrete buildings using fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites. This standard consists of eight papers that were presented by ACI Committee 440 at the Spring Convention in 2007.
The papers included in this standard cover a range of topics related to the seismic retrofit and reinforcement of concrete structures. Some of the topics covered in the papers include the retrofit of reinforced concrete beam-column T-joints in bridge piers using FRP composite jackets, the performance of an RC corner beam-column joint under bidirectional loading and its rehabilitation with FRP composites, and the experimental evaluation of non-circular reinforced concrete columns strengthened with CFRP.
Other topics covered in the papers include the structural upgrade of reinforced concrete column-tie beam assemblies using FRP composites, providing external confinement to flexural members to improve ductility, the behavior of CFRP-confined reinforced concrete elements subjected to cyclic compressive loading, the hysteretic rotation model for CFRP-strengthened joints, and the effect of bond properties on the behavior of FRP-strengthened RC girders subjected to monotonic and cyclic loads.
