Foundations for Dynamic Equipment
Also Known As:
ACI SP-348:2021 is a special publication that is the result of a Technical Session held at the ACI Spring 2019 Convention. The publication includes contributions from participants of the session who developed their presentations into full-length papers. Most of the papers focus on the subject matter of ACI 351.3, which is Foundations for Dynamic Equipment. One paper in particular, by Wang and Fang, provides valuable information on wind turbine foundations and addresses the lack of consistent design criteria among various codes for reinforced concrete foundations subjected to high-cycle fatigue loads.
The publication acknowledges the support of ACI Committee 351, specifically the current main Committee and Subcommittee C Chairpersons. The authors are also recognized for their perseverance in completing their papers despite the challenges of 2020. The publication also expresses gratitude to the reviewers who contributed their time and expertise.
The table of contents of ACI SP-348:2021 lists nine papers included in the publication, covering topics such as predicting ground vibrations for equipment foundations, retrofitting steam turbine generator foundations, design methodologies for tabletop foundations, analysis of existing compressor foundations, efficiency of pile groups under dynamic loads, design of spring isolated steam turbines, elevated foundations for rotating machines, notional piles for generalized foundation modeling, and a comparison of fatigue design code requirements for wind turbine foundations.
