Standard EN SampleStructural Design Actions - Earthquake Actions in Australia
Also Known As:
AS 1170.4:2007 (R2018) is a standard that provides guidelines for determining earthquake actions and detailing requirements for structures and components in the design process. This standard also includes specific requirements for domestic structures. However, it is important to note that structures classified as high-risk, bridges, tanks containing liquids, civil structures, offshore structures that are immersed, soil-retaining structures, and structures with first mode periods greater than 5 seconds are excluded from the scope of this standard.
It is important to understand that this standard does not take into consideration the impact of related earthquake phenomena such as settlement, slides, subsidence, liquefaction, or faulting on structures. Furthermore, it should be noted that for structures located in New Zealand, the guidelines provided in NZS 1170.5 should be consulted. Finally, the design of earth-retaining structures should be in accordance with AS 4678.
