The ASTM D6510-00 (R2006) standard provides guidance for selecting the appropriate asphalt to be used in the construction of built-up roofing (BUR) systems. It is important to note that this standard does not cover the use of asphalt in waterproofing, cold-applied, or modified bituminous roofing.
The standard addresses the selection of asphalt for various components of a BUR system, including reinforcements such as ply sheets, base sheets, and cap sheets. These reinforcements can be made of different materials such as glass, organic, or synthetic fibers.
