Standard Specification for Resilient Connectors Between Reinforced Concrete Manhole Structures and Corrugated Dual- and Triple-Wall Polyethylene and Polypropylene Pipes

SKU148723459 Published by ASTM International, formerly American Society for Testing and Materials ASTM Publication Date2022 Pages CountPages3

The ASTM F2510/F2510M-22 standard specifies the design, material, and minimum performance requirements for resilient connectors used to connect reinforced concrete manhole structures to corrugated high density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP) drainage pipes. These connectors are designed to create a secure seal between the pipe and manhole or other structures, even under internal and external hydrostatic pressures.

The standard defines that the connector must achieve a positive seal at two locations: between the connector and the wall of the manhole or structure, and between the connector and the pipe itself. Testing is conducted to ensure that the connectors meet the requirements for hydrostatic pressure performance.

The scope of the standard covers connections between reinforced concrete structures conforming to ASTM Specifications C478/C478M and C913, and annular corrugated profile wall HDPE and PP drainage and sewer pipe conforming to ASTM Specifications F2306/F2306M, F2648/F2648M, F2763/F2763M, F2764/F2764M, F2881/F2881M, and F2947/F2947M.

It is important to note that testing under this standard is limited to hydrostatic pressures. Alternate air and vacuum pressure testing protocols are not addressed in this standard. Additionally, the standard specifies that field performance testing would be conducted and accepted under individual project performance standards or pipeline acceptance criteria, which falls outside the scope of this standard. The standard also acknowledges that infiltration or exfiltration quantities for an installed system depend on factors beyond the connections between manhole structures and pipes, and must be addressed by other specifications and suitable testing of the installed pipeline and system.

Finally, the standard allows for potential application to other types of plastic drainage pipes, with consultation with the pipe manufacturer regarding the applicability to this standard.
