Standard ENStandard Test Method for Density and Void Content of Freshly Mixed Pervious Concrete
Also Known As:
ASTM C1688/C1688M-14a is a standard test method that provides a procedure for determining the density and void content of freshly mixed pervious concrete. It is applicable to pervious concrete mixtures containing coarse aggregate with a nominal maximum size of 25 mm [1 in.] or smaller. The measured fresh density can be used to verify mixture proportions.
The standard uses a consolidation procedure to measure the fresh density and void content of the delivered pervious concrete mixture. It is important to note that the test results obtained from this method do not represent the density and void content of the in-place pervious concrete. Therefore, this method should not be used to determine the in-place void content or yield of the pervious concrete.
The standard also mentions that there are two procedures (Procedure A and Procedure B) for calculating the fresh density and void content. The results obtained from these procedures may differ, and they can only be compared if obtained using the same procedure (Procedure A or B).
