Standard EN SampleStandard Specification for Blended Hydraulic Cements
Also Known As:
ASTM C595/C595M-21 is a standard specification that outlines the requirements for blended hydraulic cements used for both general and special applications. These cements are created by combining slag, pozzolan, limestone, or a combination of these materials with portland cement or portland cement clinker or slag with lime.
The standard classifies the blended hydraulic cements into two types: Type IS, which is portland blast-furnace slag cement, and Type IP, which is portland-pozzolan cement. These cements can also be further described based on properties such as air-entraining, sulfate resistance, heat of hydration, or consistency.
The specification covers a range of tests and requirements that the cement must meet. These include chemical analysis, fineness, autoclave expansion, setting time, compressive strength, heat of hydration, specific gravity, water requirement, mortar expansions, drying shrinkage, activity index, and sulfate resistance.
It is important to note that the standard includes explanatory notes and footnotes, which provide additional information but are not mandatory requirements of the specification.
