Standard ENStandard Practice for Installation of Underground Precast Concrete Utility Structures
Also Known As:
ASTM C891-20 is a standard practice that provides guidelines for the installation of underground precast concrete utility structures. The standard emphasizes the importance of proper planning, site preparation, and adherence to safety regulations during the installation process.
The practice begins by stating that the installation area should be surveyed using the workprint and a checklist. This is done to ensure that the necessary work is identified and that the plans are accurate. Additionally, before beginning any work, permits required to carry out the installation in accordance with the detail plans must be obtained. These permits or a record of them should be retained on-site for reference.
The standard also emphasizes the importance of following all federal, state, and local regulations regarding safety and shoring. This ensures that the construction process is conducted in a safe and compliant manner.
It should be noted that this practice does not cover concrete pipe and box culverts, as well as precast concrete manholes covered in Specification C478/C478M. These are excluded from the scope of this standard.
