Standard ENStandard Test Method for Static Modulus of Elasticity and Poisson's Ratio of Concrete in Compression
Also Known As:
The ASTM C469/C469M-14e1 standard provides a method for determining the stress to strain ratio and the ratio of lateral to longitudinal strain for hardened concrete. These values are applicable to concrete at any age and curing conditions.
The modulus of elasticity and Poisson's ratio values derived from this test method are used in the design and sizing of reinforced and nonreinforced structural members. They help determine the quantity of reinforcement and compute stress for observed strains within the customary working stress range (0 to 40% of ultimate concrete strength).
It is important to note that the modulus of elasticity values obtained from this test method may be different from moduli obtained under rapid load application (such as dynamic or seismic rates) or under slow load application or extended load duration. Therefore, the values obtained from this test method are specific to the test conditions and should be used accordingly.
