Standard EN SampleStandard Specification for Ready-Mixed Concrete
Also Known As:
The ASTM C94/C94M-21a standard outlines the requirements for the production, delivery, and quality of ready-mixed concrete. It applies to concrete that is delivered to a purchaser in a freshly mixed and unhardened state. The quality requirements for the concrete can be either as specified in this standard or as specified by the purchaser. If there is a discrepancy between the purchaser's specifications and the standard, the purchaser's specifications take precedence.
The standard specifies the materials to be used in ready-mixed concrete, including cementitious materials, aggregates, air-entraining admixtures, and chemical admixtures. The measurement of these materials should be done by mass unless otherwise permitted. The mixing of the concrete can be done using either stationary mixers or truck mixers. Agitators can also be used, either in the form of truck mixers or truck agitators.
The standard also includes testing requirements for the concrete, such as compression testing, air content testing, slump testing, and temperature testing. For strength testing, at least two standard test specimens must be made. It is important to note that this standard does not cover the placement, consolidation, curing, or protection of the concrete after it has been delivered to the purchaser.
The specification references notes and footnotes that provide additional explanatory material. However, these notes and footnotes, excluding those in tables and figures, are not considered as requirements of the standard.
