BS EN 15651-2:2017 is a European standard that provides definitions and requirements for non-structural elastic sealants used to seal glazing in building construction applications. The standard specifically covers glazing joints that are inclined at an angle of 7° or greater.
The main areas of application for these sealants are glass-to-glass, glass-to-frame, and glass-to-porous substrates. However, the standard excludes certain applications such as aquariums, structural bonding or glazing, the inner and outer seals used to manufacture insulated glazing units, horizontal glazing below 7°, and organic glass like polycarbonate or PMMA.
By specifying the requirements for these sealants, the standard aims to ensure that they meet the necessary quality and performance standards for effectively sealing glazing joints in non-structural building applications.
