Standard EN SampleThermal Performance of Windows, Doors and Shutters - Determination of Thermal Transmittance by Hot Box Method - Roller Shutter Boxes
Also Known As:
BS EN 12412-4:2003 is a European standard that outlines a method for determining the thermal transmittance of roller shutter boxes using the hot box method. The standard is based on other international standards, such as EN ISO 8990 and EN ISO 12567-1. It provides a way to measure the overall thermal transmittance of the roller shutter box, taking into account the various geometrical and material characteristics of the specimen being tested. The method excludes edge effects outside the perimeter of the specimen, as well as energy transfer from solar radiation and air leakage. The standard is designed to allow for fair comparisons between different products and also provides specific testing for practical applications. The determination of thermal transmittance is conducted under conditions that simulate the real-life situation of the roller shutter box. EN ISO 12567-1 provides information on the design of the calibration transfer standard used in the testing process.
