The BS 1377-5:1990 standard provides guidelines for conducting various tests on soils. These tests include the determination of consolidation characteristics under changing effective stress, permeability characteristics of sands, susceptibility of clays to internal erosion by water, and susceptibility of soils to heave in freezing conditions.
