The DIN EN 998-1 standard specifies the requirements for mortar used in rendering and plastering applications for masonry construction. This standard is applicable to pre-made mortar products that are based on inorganic binders and are used for both external rendering and internal plastering of walls, ceilings, columns, and partitions. It provides definitions and sets out the final performance requirements for these mortar products.
However, it's important to note that this standard does not cover mortars where calcium sulphate binder is the main binding agent. Calcium sulphate binder may be used as an additional binder alongside air lime, but it is not the principal active binding agent in the mortar covered by this standard.
