DIN EN 492 is a standard that specifically defines the technical requirements, testing methods, and acceptance conditions for fibre-cement slates and their fittings. These slates are primarily used for roofing, internal wall finishes, and external wall and ceiling finishes. The standard applies to fibre-cement slates that have a maximum height dimension of 850mm for overlapping assembly.
In order to classify fibre-cement slates, the standard takes into consideration their bending moment. Fibre-cement slates can be reinforced with different types of fibres as specified in the standard. It is important to note that this standard does not cover calculations for various construction requirements, design specifications, installation techniques, wind uplift, or waterproofing of the installed products.
