Structural Bearings - Part 1: General
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 1337-1 standard provides general guidelines for the design, manufacturing, protection, transport, storage, installation, and inspection of structural bearings used in bridges and other structures like buildings. This standard does not cover bearings that are subjected to uplift forces or those specifically used for moving functions in movable bridges (such as bascule or lift bridges). Additionally, it excludes regulations for concrete hinges and leveling pads.
While this European Standard can be used as guidance for temporary bearings, it can also be applied to the design and manufacture of other types of structural bearings not outlined in this document. If the bearings are intended to function as part of anti-seismic devices, with the aim of modifying the dynamic response of the structure, EN15129 should also be considered. It is important to use this standard in conjunction with other relevant parts of the EN 1337 series.
