Early Public Participation in Industrial and Infrastructure Projects
Also Known As:
The VDI 7000 standard is designed to support both private and public project developers in ensuring a sustainable request option is identified early on in the process, prior to the statutory public participation within an approval procedure. By following this standard, the risks associated with the realization process of industrial and infrastructure projects can be reduced, while also helping to prevent legal conflicts.
One of the key benefits of implementing the approach outlined in the standard is that it allows participants in the project to proactively address and resolve conflicts before they escalate. This not only relieves the burden on statutory procedures and their associated instruments, such as hearings, but also enables project developers to discover new technical solutions that are more likely to be accepted by a wider audience. This early engagement in the process provides an opportunity for stakeholders to take action and find mutually agreeable solutions.
The standard is relevant for a wide range of stakeholders, including private and public project developers, government agencies, civil society groups, associations, engineering companies, consultants, law firms, communication agencies, and process designers.
