Products and Systems for the Protection and Repair of Concrete Structures - Definitions, Requirements, Quality Control and Evaluation of Conformity - Part 5: Concrete Injection
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 1504-5 standard provides guidelines for the identification, performance, and safety of injection products used in the repair and protection of concrete structures. It specifies requirements for filling cracks, voids, and interstices in concrete using force transmitting, ductile, and swelling fitted materials.
The standard focuses on the performance and durability aspects of injection products and defines three categories: F (force transmitting filling), D (ductile filling), and S (swelling fitted filling). It should be noted that highly specialized applications in extreme environmental conditions or specific circumstances such as accidental impact or earthquake loading may require additional performance requirements not covered in this standard.
The standard explicitly states that it does not cover the treatment of cracks by widening and sealing with elastomeric sealing compounds, external filling of cavities outside the structure, or preliminary injection works to temporarily stop water passage during waterproofing injection. These aspects are addressed in other standards, such as EN 12715 for contact grouting.
