Sprayed Concrete - Part 1: Definitions, Specifications, and Conformity
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 14487-1 standard provides guidelines for the use of sprayed concrete in repair, upgrading, and construction of structures, as well as ground strengthening. The standard covers various aspects such as the classification of wet mix consistency, environmental exposure classes, and requirements for different types of concrete including young, hardened, and fiber-reinforced concrete.
The standard also specifies the requirements for constituent materials, concrete composition, basic mix, and both fresh and hardened concrete. It includes specifications for designed and prescribed mixes, ensuring that the sprayed concrete meets the desired standards. Additionally, the standard addresses the conformity of the sprayed concrete, ensuring that it adheres to the specified requirements.
The standard applies to both wet mix and dry mix sprayed concrete, and it outlines the different substrates to which sprayed concrete can be applied, including ground, sprayed concrete, various types of formwork, structural components made of concrete, masonry, and steel, as well as drainage and insulating materials.
It should be noted that additional or different requirements may be necessary for applications not covered by this standard, such as refractory uses.
