Standard EN SampleTimber structures - Test methods - Floor vibration performance
Also Known As:
ISO 18324:2016 is a standard that provides test procedures for measuring the natural frequencies, modal damping ratios, and static deflection of timber floors under a concentrated load. These parameters are used to evaluate the vibrational performance of timber floors and its correlation with human perception. The standard specifies that these test procedures can be used in place of calculations to quantify these parameters. However, it does not cover the subsequent use of these measured parameters for evaluating vibrational serviceability.
The standard references a series of International Standards published by ISO on modal testing and analysis. Modal testing is proposed as the method for measuring dynamic parameters such as natural frequencies and modal damping ratios. It is assumed that the test operators have the necessary equipment and knowledge to perform these tests. The theory of modal testing and analysis is further documented in Reference [4].
