Standard EN SampleReaction-to-Fire Tests for Façades - Part 2: Large-Scale Test
Also Known As:
ISO 13785-2:2002 is a standard that specifies a method of testing the reaction to fire of façade claddings when exposed to heat and flames from a simulated interior compartment fire with flames emerging through a window opening and impinging directly on the façade. This test is applicable to non-loadbearing façades and claddings and does not assess the structural strength of the materials.
It is important to note that this standard does not determine the fire behavior of the building façade as a whole, nor does it consider specific details such as balconies, windows, window shutters, curtains, etc. The test does not include the risk of fire spread through window details and is focused solely on the façade wall.
The test specimen used in this standard includes an internal corner with a re-entrant angle of 90°, as this configuration is known to produce a more intense fire exposure. The purpose of this test is to evaluate the presence of combustible components within otherwise non-combustible façades and claddings of buildings.
