ISO 8336:2017 is a standard that outlines the specifications and test methods for fibre-cement flat sheets. The standard covers the inspection and testing of these sheets for use in applications such as external and internal wall and ceiling finishes, as well as internal and external backing sheets. However, it does not apply to sheets specifically designed for fire protection purposes.

The standard emphasizes that the products covered by ISO 8336:2017 can be used for other purposes as long as they comply with the appropriate national or international application code or standard. It should be noted that ISO 8336:2017 does not include calculations for installation design requirements, wind uplift, or waterproofing of the installed sheets.

Additionally, the standard excludes certain products from its scope. These include boards of Portland or equivalent cement reinforced with fibrous wood particles, fibre-reinforced boards of calcium silicate or cement for thermal insulation or fire protection, sheets containing asbestos or steel fibre reinforcement, and fibre-cement roofing slates.
