Standard EN SampleTimber Structures - Glued Laminated Timber - Component Performance Requirements
Also Known As:
ISO 12578:2016 is a standard that establishes the performance requirements for the components of glued laminated timber used in structural applications. This standard applies to products with a maximum finished lamination thickness of 50 mm.
While glued laminated timber is typically made from coniferous species, ISO 12578:2016 also covers broadleaf species if the specified tests demonstrate that a satisfactory glue bond can be achieved.
The requirements outlined in this standard apply to structural members in all service classes. However, additional precautions are necessary for service class 3, such as the use of weather-resistant adhesives.
It is important to note that ISO 12578:2016 does not address the determination of strength and stiffness characteristics. Informative materials regarding formaldehyde emission can be found in Annex B.
