Standard ENStandard Specification for Aluminum-Zinc Alloy Coated Sheet Steel for Corrugated Steel Pipe
Also Known As:
The AASHTO M 289-91 (2021) standard pertains to the sheet steel used for corrugated steel pipe. The steel sheets are coated with a 55 percent aluminum-zinc alloy using a continuous hot-dip process. The material can be provided in coils, flat cut lengths, or corrugated cut lengths.
The standard provides specifications for the various corrugation patterns available in cut lengths, including pitches of 68 by 13 mm, 75 by 25 mm, and 125 by 25 mm. The aluminum-zinc alloy coating has a designated coating mass of 210 g/m2.
To meet the requirements of this standard, the steel sheets or coils must conform to the applicable provisions of ASTM A 792/A 792M, unless specified otherwise. This ensures that the material meets the necessary quality and performance standards for its intended use in corrugated steel pipe applications.
