Standard ENStandard Method of Test for Elastic Recovery Test of Asphalt Materials by Means of a Ductilometer
Also Known As:
The AASHTO T 301-13 (2021) standard outlines the procedure for determining the elastic recovery of asphalt materials using a ductilometer and briquet specimens. The test involves pulling the specimens apart at a rate of 5 cm/min (2 in./min) and holding them after a specified elongation.
Once the specified elongation is reached, the specimens are severed at the center and left undisturbed for 1 hour, allowing them to recover. It's important to note that unless otherwise specified, the test should be conducted at a temperature of 25 ± 0.5°C (77 ± 1.0°F).
This standard provides a standardized method for evaluating the elastic recovery characteristics of asphalt materials. By conducting this test, the performance and durability of these materials can be assessed, helping engineers and researchers make informed decisions regarding their use in various applications.
