Standard EN SampleStandard Test Method for Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by the Pressure Method
Also Known As:
ASTM C231/C231M-22 is a standard test method used to determine the air content of freshly mixed concrete. The test is based on observing the change in volume of the concrete when pressure is applied. This standard is applicable for concretes and mortars made with relatively dense aggregates, for which the aggregate correction factor can be determined using the technique described in Section 6. It is not suitable for lightweight aggregates, air-cooled blast-furnace slag, or highly porous aggregates. In these cases, Test Method C173/C173M should be used. The standard does not apply to nonplastic concrete used in the manufacturing of pipe and concrete masonry units. The standard includes notes and footnotes that provide additional explanatory information, but these are not considered as requirements of the standard.
