Standard ENStandard Test Method for Obtaining and Testing Specimens of Hardened Lightweight Insulating Concrete for Compressive Strength
Also Known As:
The ASTM C513/C513M-11 (R2019) standard is a test method used to obtain and test specimens of hardened lightweight insulating concrete for compressive strength. This test method is used when results of tests on specimens molded at the time of construction are not available or are defective, and also to establish the strength properties of existing construction.
The standard covers the process of obtaining, preparing, and testing specimens of hardened lightweight insulating concrete. The concrete can be made with either lightweight aggregate or preformed foam. The lightweight aggregate must conform to Specification C332, while the foaming agent used to create the preformed foam must conform to Specification C869/C869M. The concrete should have an oven-dry density not exceeding 800 kg/m3 (50 lb/ft3).
