ASTM C1288-17 is a standard specification for fiber-cement interior substrate sheets that are dimensionally stable and suitable for decoration in internal wet and dry areas. These substrate sheets can be used with various finishes such as paint, wallpaper, natural stone, tile, or resilient flooring.
It is important to note that this standard does not apply to asbestos-cement sheets, non-asbestos fiber-cement sheets for exterior applications, gypsum backing boards, glass mat gypsum backing boards, fiber mat cement boards, or cement-bonded particleboards.
The substrate sheets covered in this specification are made from inorganic binders or calcium silicate binders, along with optional process aids, fillers, and pigments. They can be formed with or without pressure and cured under natural or accelerated conditions.
The standard outlines specific requirements for flexural strength, density, and modulus of elasticity, as well as qualities of workmanship, finish, and appearance.
