Report / Survey EN SampleTest Method for Determining Potential Resistance to Degradation of Pervious Concrete by Impact and Abrasion
Also Known As:
The ASTM RR:C09-1041 standard is a method used to assess the durability of pervious concrete pavement. This standard is designed to measure the potential resistance of pervious concrete to degradation caused by impacts and abrasion.
To determine the potential resistance to degradation, an inter-laboratory study (ILS) was conducted in 2010. The study involved seven different laboratories that used locally-sourced materials to proportion pervious concrete mixtures. Each laboratory prepared three batches of pervious concrete, with varying void contents of 18%, 20%, and 22% respectively. Each batch was subjected to three replicate tests, where a test consisted of three individual specimens.
It is worth noting that five of the laboratories had two different technicians performing the test. This variation in technicians helps to evaluate the precision and consistency of the test method. The results obtained from the ILS provide a measure of the precision of this test method and allow for the comparison of potential resistance to degradation among different pervious concrete mixtures.
