Standard ENStandard Test Methods for Compressive Strength of Chemical-Resistant Mortars, Grouts, Monolithic Surfacings, and Polymer Concretes
Also Known As:
ASTM C579-18 is a standard that provides a means of determining the compressive strength of chemical-resistant mortars, grouts, monolithic surfacings, and polymer concretes. These materials can be based on various binders such as resin, silicate, silica, or sulfur.
The test methods outlined in this standard are divided into three categories: Test Method A, Test Method B, and Test Method C. Test Method A is used for systems that contain aggregate less than 0.0625 in. (1.6 mm) in size. Test Method B is used for systems that contain aggregate ranging from 0.0625 to 0.4 in. (1.6 to 10 mm) in size. Test Method C is applicable for systems that contain aggregate larger than 0.4 in.
In addition, this standard provides two different methods for controlling the testing rate, allowing for flexibility in testing procedures.
