BS EN 12350-2:2019 is a standard that outlines a method for determining the consistence of fresh concrete through the use of a slump test. The slump test is capable of measuring changes in the consistence of concrete within a range of 10 mm to 210 mm. It is important to note that outside of this range, the slump test may not be applicable and alternative methods should be considered to determine the consistency.
The standard also highlights that if the slump continues to change for more than 1 minute after the cone has been removed, then the slump test is not an accurate measure of consistence. Additionally, the test is not suitable when the maximum aggregate size used in the concrete (Dmax) exceeds 40 mm.
